We’ve not covered DURAN here before, but when we saw coldrain’s drummer Katsuma is featured, we had to give it a listen. Before writing this article, we listened to DURAN’s one other song TOKYOSURVIVOR (we’ll include it below), to get a taste of what it’s like, and we’d say they have heavy anthem taste served with a side of dominating raw guitar sound and does not include any vocals. TAKEMEHIGHER guitar maintains the same powerful flavour, but this time DURAN sings.
The hand on the strange-gauge is definitely pointing towards being marginally more experimental than your usual run of the mill rock pop band or artist. The drums, as expected, ring deep so you can feel it thump in your chest, accompanied with cute electronic popping sounds, the vocals and lyrics follows a typical recipe for a hook-y pop track. The embellishments within the track is interesting enough, but I personally wished the lyrics were not so repetitive.
Looking deeper into DURAN, it is actually a solo-project by the former member of The ROOTLESS, a flood of circle, undervar and Made in Asia. This project debuted only recently in November 2017, and he will release his first album, FACE, on July 11, 2018. If you liked the new video, check out TOKYOSURVIVOR below:
