Through some kind of twisted destiny, it seems X Japan and fans are going to have to wait a bit longer in order to experience X Japan’s much anticipated comeback. After a couple of years of being promised a new album, an official announcement stating the release of the bands first album in 20 years was made. Gigs in Japan and Europe were planned, and everyone was ecstatic.

However, most of these events have either been cancelled or postponed due to guitarist Pata’s worsening health. Today on February 3, his emergency trip to the hospital was revealed and made headlines in Japan, stating that he was at the time in the intensive care unit after being diagnosed with diverticulitis (pouches forming in the wall of the colon, causing stomach pains, diarrhea, fever, nausea, among other symptoms) and portal vein thrombosis (also known as portal hypertension, a blockage of blood flow through the liver due to liver damage). Pata was also receiving intravenous nutrition, as diverticulitis greatly reduces one’s appetite.

So far, X Japan’s live in the UK, which was to take place on March 12 at SSE Arena in Wembley, has been postponed until next year, on March 4, 2017. Furthermore, the band’s new album has also been postponed, although a new release date for the album has not yet been decided. A new date will be agreed upon after careful consideration on the present situation.

The members of X Japan have left messages explaining their thoughts on the situation, have a look at them below.

Yoshiki: My mind is filled with sad feelings. I am so sorry to the fans who’s sadness must be indescribable. I am keeping an eye on Pata’s condition. I just pray that no more tragedies will occur to X Japan. Without you fans, X Japan is nothing. We promise will revive stronger that ever.

Toshi: I Apologize to the fans for this inconvenience. I promise to continue X Japan again with Pata with great music to look forward to.

Heath: I sincerely apologize about the Wembely performances, and postponed album. It will be a while, but X Japan will stand in perfect condition in order to deliver to the fans. We have been practicing for the best sound and best stage possible. Please look forward to our future activities.

Sugizo: X Japan without Pata is unlikely. I will wait patiently.

Yoshiki has taken to twitter on several accounts his regret for this sudden announcement, leaving messages for both Japanese and overseas fans.

The staff at JROCKNEWS sincerely wishes Pata a full and speedy recovery. We, along with all of their fans across the world, will be waiting patiently for X Japan’s return.
